How to Improve Your Skin
Date Posted: May 17th, 2010 Posted Under: Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)It’s a fact that most of us want softer and smoother skin that we can show off anytime. But not everybody is gifted with good genes for flawless and picture-perfect skin. What does it-take to have that great complexion you’ve always longed for?
Dermatologists, more often than not, advise us against staying longer under the sun — the skin’s worst enemy.
Water is one of the most important ingredients to good skin. Skin that’s properly hydrated will not bring forth blemishes and can also defend against unsightly wrinkles. Drinking at least eight glasses of water daily will do the trick! The more water you drink, no matter if it sounds like a cliché already, will help make your skin look gorgeous always. It’s as simple as that! Bottled water is likewise an inexpensive beauty treatment that most celebrities swear buy in volumes all the time. Make it a habit! It will surely do wonders to your skin.
Of course, skin that’s clean and clear is A-okay! Wash it daily with warm water and use an oil-free soap to- keep dirt and grime away from your complexion. Read those beauty labels. Gentle foaming washes are great for your skin. Choose mild products that will not harm your skin in any way. Harsh astringents are also big no-nos to the skin, especially those that contain alcohol. Keep alcohol and oil off your face and skin altogether.
Use a skin moisturizer before retiring to bed at night. Little girls would often see their mommies apply moisturizers at night. This is a good skin habit that we should also imitate, girls! The best moisturizers are those that contain vitamin C that help make your skin look younger, thus prevents aging. Never sleep with make-up on, please! Make-up, when left uncleansed, will cause oil buildup in your skin, resulting to whiteheads and blackheads.
Use lotion on your skin after taking a bath or washing your hands.
Having clear, soft and smooth skin is not a miracle that you would pray for every night. It’s an offshoot of habits that you observe from Day 1, and onwards.
Skin Care in 20s
If you are in your 20s, it is time to invest on taking care of your beautiful skin. These easy steps are inexpensive, bring about favorable results, and will go a long way; in addition, it can save you that trip to a plastic surgeon when you are in your 40s.
1 A good moisturizer rehydrates the skin. Use it regularly on exposed parts of your body. Apply it on your hands, face, and neck.
2. Harsh soaps strip your body of moisture and dry your skin. Use mild and gentle soaps on your body instead.
3. Apply lotion all over your body after you shower. This will keep your skin radiant and velvety to touch just like a baby’s.
4. Wear clothes that allow you to breathe.
5. Eat fruits, vegetables, and more fibers. They are beneficial for the skin and improve the skin’s texture and tone.
6. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. The effects of the sun don’t occur until you’re older.
7. What our parents always remind us to practice is right. Drink more water, at least six to eight glasses.
