Acne – the Bane of Youth
Date Posted: July 10th, 2010 Posted Under: Beauty(Hair/Makeup/etc.), Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)Growing up can be a fun and wonderful experience. However, there may be some aspects of growing up that can be a real challenge, and these usually occur around puberty, and every so often trouble many young people well into adolescence. One common challenge that many teenagers and adolescents face is acne and it is something that is never pleasant and never welcome.
Truth is, acne can sufferers can be of all ages, but the physical and hormonal changes that occur when we grow up and our bodies undergo changes make us much more prone to acne, and more likely to suffer from it.
Our skin contains pores and these can often become clogged by dirt or by a substance called sebum which is produced by our skin glands. Acne is caused by bacteria trapped in these blocked pores. Teenagers tend to produce a lot more sebum and this can lead to acne, especially if coupled with poor hygiene.
Acne is however very common all around the world, and because of this, scores of different treatments have been developed. Advice on which treatment is best for you should be sorted. As well as trained professionals, adults including parents may well be able to offer a good solution, especially if they too have faced the same problem in their younger years. Perhaps one or both of your parents also suffered from acne when they were your age.
Acne rarely goes away by itself. It’s important to try to treat it before it has the chance to develop and to keep a close eye on all aspects of daily hygiene that could cause acne to become worse.
