Acne – the Bane of Youth

Date Posted: July 10th, 2010 Posted Under: Beauty(Hair/Makeup/etc.), Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)

Growing up can be a fun and wonderful experience.  However, there may be some aspects of growing up that can be a real challenge, and these usually occur around puberty, and every so often trouble many young people well into adolescence.  One common challenge that many teenagers and adolescents face is acne and it is something that is never pleasant and never welcome.

Truth is, acne can sufferers can be of all ages, but the physical and hormonal changes that occur when we grow up and our bodies undergo changes make us much more prone to acne, and more likely to suffer from it.

Our skin contains pores and these can often become clogged by dirt or by a substance called sebum which is produced by our skin glands.  Acne is caused by bacteria trapped in these blocked pores.  Teenagers tend to produce a lot more sebum and this can lead to acne, especially if coupled with poor hygiene.

Acne is however very common all around the world, and because of this, scores of different treatments have been developed. Advice on which treatment is best for you should be sorted.  As well as trained professionals, adults including parents may well be able to offer a good solution, especially if they too have faced the same problem in their younger years.  Perhaps one or both of your parents also suffered from acne when they were your age.

Acne rarely goes away by itself.  It’s important to try to treat it before it has the chance to develop and to keep a close eye on all aspects of daily hygiene that could cause acne to become worse.

How to Improve Your Skin

Date Posted: May 17th, 2010 Posted Under: Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)

It’s a fact that most of us want softer and smoother skin that we can show off anytime. But not everybody is gifted with good genes for flawless and picture-perfect skin. What does it-take to have that great complexion you’ve always longed for?

Dermatologists, more often than not, advise us against staying longer under the sun — the skin’s worst enemy.

Water is one of the most important ingredients to good skin. Skin that’s properly hydrated will not bring forth blemishes and can also defend against unsightly wrinkles. Drinking at least eight glasses of water daily will do the trick! The more water you drink, no matter if it sounds like a cliché already, will help make your skin look gorgeous always. It’s as simple as that! Bottled water is likewise an inexpensive beauty treatment that most celebrities swear buy in volumes all the time. Make it a habit! It will surely do wonders to your skin.

Of course, skin that’s clean and clear is A-okay! Wash it daily with warm water and use an oil-free soap to- keep dirt and grime away from your complexion. Read those beauty labels. Gentle foaming washes are great for your skin. Choose mild products that will not harm your skin in any way. Harsh astringents are also big no-nos to the skin, especially those that contain alcohol. Keep alcohol and oil off your face and skin altogether.

Use a skin moisturizer before retiring to bed at night. Little girls would often see their mommies apply moisturizers at night. This is a good skin habit that we should also imitate, girls! The best moisturizers are those that contain vitamin C that help make your skin look younger, thus prevents aging. Never sleep with make-up on, please! Make-up, when left uncleansed, will cause oil buildup in your skin, resulting to whiteheads and blackheads.

Use lotion on your skin after taking a bath or washing your hands.
Having clear, soft and smooth skin is not a miracle that you would pray for every night. It’s an offshoot of habits that you observe from Day 1, and onwards.

Skin Care in 20s
If you are in your 20s, it is time to invest on taking care of your beautiful skin. These easy steps are inexpensive, bring about favorable results, and will go a long way; in addition, it can save you that trip to a plastic surgeon when you are in your 40s.
1 A good moisturizer rehydrates the skin. Use it regularly on exposed parts of your body. Apply it on your hands, face, and neck.
2. Harsh soaps strip your body of moisture and dry your skin. Use mild and gentle soaps on your body instead.
3. Apply lotion all over your body after you shower. This will keep your skin radiant and velvety to touch just like a baby’s.
4. Wear clothes that allow you to breathe.
5. Eat fruits, vegetables, and more fibers. They are beneficial for the skin and improve the skin’s texture and tone.
6. Apply sunscreen with an SPF of at least 15. The effects of the sun don’t occur until you’re older.
7. What our parents always remind us to practice is right. Drink more water, at least six to eight glasses.

The importance of having a sensible approach to treating Acne

Date Posted: December 11th, 2009 Posted Under: Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)

Looking good tends to go hand in hand with feeling good.  People who are confident about the way they look often act more confident, and this has a positive effect on their lives.  Although beauty is actually only skin deep, the way we look can directly affect how we feel.  Okay we might not all be shaped and built like the superstars we see on the TV, but we can all feel more confident when we try to look the best that we can.

A person who suffers from acne will no doubt at some point experience some form of negative feelings or notice a negative impact that it is having on their life.  Only very few people wouldn’t care in the slightest, and practically all wish that they could just wave a magic wand and be done with it.

Acne is never fun, never welcome and can cause many people to suffer on an emotional level because of the way they look.  People with acne may have low self esteem and may become withdrawn and start to avoid social activity.  They feel embarrassed about it, frustrated, and lose the self confidence they once had.  These feelings, coupled with the acne itself, can have a detrimental effect on their relationships and also their career.

Successful treatment of acne can be life changing.  Like a weight has been lifted and you are free to enjoy life once more. So it is important to remember that you should not give up trying to find a treatment that works for you.  It is true that there is no miracle overnight cure and that treatment might take longer than you expected, but it is well worth it.

Different people will benefit from different treatments, but it is still worth asking someone else who suffers, or did suffer from acne about the treatment they use.  Professional advice is also available.  A dermatologist should be able to give you advice on home treatments as well as treatments they might provide in a clinic.

It is essential to approach treatment in the right way, trying out a particular treatment for a good period of time before giving up on it.  Be sure to follow guidelines carefully so as not to damage your skin or cause more problems.

Many people do manage to find a treatment that works well for them.  Their lives improve and their confidence grows with the treatment, and many people go on to put acne far behind them where it belongs – in the past.

How to buy Natural Skin Care products

Date Posted: November 30th, 2009 Posted Under: Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)

It may seem like all skin care products automatically contain chemical additives and greasy oils. This is simply not so. In fact, there are more and more natural skin care products coming to the market every day. But how do you find them? It’s actually easier than you think to locate sources for good quality natural herbal skin care treatments.

Perhaps the largest category of natural skin care products is directly related to the aging process. This shouldn’t surprise you. Who wants to look older than they have to? What may be a surprise however is that the all-natural products can perform as well or better than their chemical counterparts.

A quick review of the labels on the products that you use now may give you an incentive to look for new ones. Are you aware that, in all likelihood, your skin care products contain mostly oils, including animal fat? Even if you don’t have sensitive skin why would anyone want all that oil? It really is time for a change.

Of course everyone’s skin is a little different. It’s important to know which skin type category we fall into and choose our skin care products accordingly. However, regardless of the skin type everyone needs protection from ultraviolet (UV) rays. There is ample scientific evidence that shows the link between skin cancer and UV rays. Many natural products are out there that address this important issue.

There’s a common misconception that natural skin care products have to be expensive. That’s not automatically so. Both the natural and artificial categories contain a wide variety of products in both the upper and lower price ranges. If you’re still concerned with the price consider growing some of the ingredients yourself. They are, after all, natural.

In all facets of our lives time does indeed march on but nowhere more so than on our skin. You are not to going to regain your youth but you can make your skin come close. Whether you grow the plants or buy natural skin care products off the shelf, you will find that the vitamins and other nutrients do actually restore, not just cover up, your skin to an earlier time.

As is true of just about anything you buy, “natural” skin care products are not always really “natural” as the advertising hype suggests. Read the little print to be sure it agrees with the big print.

Everyone seems to be so busy these days. There just isn’t enough time in the day to get everything done. Don’t you think it’s important though to take a little time to make certain that what you put on your face is really what you want? A little effort in the proper selection of skin care products will pay big appearance dividends. Take the time to understand and select the right products.

Cost effective home Acne treatment

Date Posted: November 20th, 2009 Posted Under: Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)

Suffering from acne is never pleasant and can often feel like it’s a constant, never ending battle.  Some acne sufferers tend to jump straight into the option of seeing a professional dermatologist to let him take care of the problem.  This can turn out to be quite an expensive solution, and if you fail to stick to your appointments it may be less effective than expected.

Using home treatments has the added advantage that there is little stopping you from sticking to them.  Home remedies can take sometime to take effect and require quite a bit of patience, but the fact that you are more likely to use them on a more regular basis can improve your chances of success.

When people first develop acne they will no doubt wash their face more, probably using the same method they have always used.  Few people though will solve the problem this way and will need to find a more effective solution.  Before looking for an alternative to your usual soap (or cleanser) and water, it is important that you pay close attention to the way by which you cleanse and then rinse.

Rinsing all of the soap or cleanser off your face completely will actually make your skin feel a lot different to touch.  Many soaps do take a few good rinses to get them off completely.  If you think that your soap or cleanser is causing you irritation, try using a milder type, or even a baby soap.

The process of removing acne can be a slow one.  You may feel that what you are doing at home is having little effect and may wish to try another method without really giving it a chance to get to work.  Try to be patient and stick with the method for a couple of weeks to see whether the situation does actually improve slightly.  If at that stage there is only very little or no improvement, it is well worth looking at using another treatment or some additional methods.

Cleansers designed to fight acne often include benzoyl peroxide.  These may be in the form of a soap, topical cream or gel.  It is important to remember not to overuse these products as this may lead to irritation or leave your skin overly dry.  It may be worth using these products only once a day at first along side your usual cleanser to see whether your condition improves.  Again, be patient and don’t start to go overboard with your treatment believing that doing more is better and will be quicker. That is often times not the case.

Other common treatments for acne often include salicylic acid.  Often found in facial tissues, cleansing pads and washes, salicylic acid can unclog pores and prevent the growth of spots and acne.

Try to avoid combining different treatments, especially at first.  If one treatment appears to be having absolutely no effect on its own then it’s fairly unlikely to have any effect when combined with another.  Give each treatment time to get to work before trying something new, and hopefully fairly soon you will notice which home treatment works well for you. At that point, you will start to see a noticeable improvement that will actually rid you of the problem for good.

Beauty tips to fight Acne effectively

Date Posted: November 5th, 2009 Posted Under: Beauty(Hair/Makeup/etc.), Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)

Acne affects many people in different countries, in all regions of the world.  Cures for acne range from expensive prescription medicines to free and easy natural remedies.  The effectiveness of these remedies varies greatly and they are not always available to everyone.  If you are engaged in a battle against acne, here are some ways in which you could improve your chances of overcoming the problem and reduce the chances of a re-occurrence.

A healthy diet goes a long way to improving many aspects of a person’s life and these include healthier skin.  More fruits and vegetables in your diet will help the body to cleanse your skin more efficiently from the inside out.  Another aspect of diet to take a closer look at is the amount of water you consume.  Water is vital for removing toxins and waste from our bodies.  By keeping well hydrated, there’s less chance that your pores will become clogged.  Ideally you should be consuming at least 2 litres of water every day.

As well as looking to increase the amount of water in your diet, it is also a good idea to watch the amount of caffeine you take.  Caffeine in both coffee and carbonated drinks is known to increase stress levels and make people feel agitated more easily.  Stress hormones increase the chances of developing acne, so as well as avoiding caffeine, try to lead a more relaxed life style.  By controlling your stress levels your body will start to produce more cortisol, which itself can help to reduce acne.

Many women (and these days also an increasing number of men) use beauty products on a daily basis.  Cleansers, cosmetics and make-up are available all around us, all with their promises that they will keep us looking younger and healthier than the other products available.  The majority are made from chemical based substances, and although normally tested a great deal before they can be sold, they all leave your skin in an unnatural state.  Use or overuse of many of these products can eventually lead to skin disorders, to which the response should be – stop using them! But unfortunately, some people actually think that they should be using them more!  Healthy, naturally cleansed skin can be achieved by reducing the chemical based substances and looking for natural alternatives.  One great example is soap based on natural tea tree oil.

If you do use some form of acne remedy, be sure to try to follow these pointers and you will find your remedy to be more effective, or hopefully, put you in a position where you never have to use it again!

Bath Home made recipes for ultimate relaxation

Date Posted: July 21st, 2009 Posted Under: Skin Care & Body(Fitness/etc)

There is nothing more relaxing or soothing than a nice warm bath with bath beads or moistening mixtures added to the water. The bath provides the needed break from the long stressful day and rejuvenates you with each minute you soak in the water.

There are different types of additives to the water all creating different benefits. Some of the benefits include nourishing, stimulating, toning, soothing, and relaxing. To create the home recipe for each makes the benefits far more appealing.

Here are basic recipes to achieve the benefit you desire.

To soothe dry or itchy skin, add one cup of vinegar.

To soothe or soften skin, add one tablespoon of ground oatmeal.

To nourish the skin and fight dry skin, add one cup of powdered milk.

To relieve sleeplessness and tiredness, add one large spoon of honey

To add a pleasant odor, add either a lemon or orange peel.

To tighten or smooth the skin, add two tablespoons of starch.

To fight tiredness, add one cup of Epsom salts.

Herbal bath treatments have been a common beauty treatment for ages. Some of the leading popular herbs are chamomile flowers, elder flowers, thyme for soothing and softening the skin. Use mint and rosemary in the water to stimulate the circulation. To clear the skin use blackberry leaves and for sore, chapped and spotty skin, use comfrey. Lavender eases the mind and emotions while providing a pleasant scent.

To create autumn body polish mix together 1/8 cup of finely ground sunflower seed meal with 1/8 cup of applesauce. Mix the ingredients together forming a paste then gently apply to your legs, arms, face, throat, and chest in circular motions. Allow the mixture to dry for ten minutes so the sunflower oils are released into the skin. Rinse the mixture from the skin and pat the skin gently dry.

To make buttermilk bath salts, mix one cup of buttermilk powder, one cup of sea salt, and several drops of essential oils. This will create enough for four applications. Add one cup of the mixture to the water and enjoy the rewards.
